Evelix is the stunning new album featuring the full range of Iain Strachan's songwriting talents from the soulful pop of "Pop Mantra" and the bluesey "If I Could Be Bothered" to the darkly atmospheric "The Marvellous Adventure Of Cabeza de Vaca" and the rhythmically jazzy "The Banknote". The songs are offset by arrangements of traditional tunes with a distinctly contemporary flavour - "The Ardvasar Blacksmith" blends the sounds of the low whistle and the small pipes with a Hammond organ while "Walking the Dog in the Mains of Gartly" marries the Scott Skinner fiddle tune with the Rufus Thomas soul classic.
